Flagging expensive clicks is not a complete paid social audit. Measurement may be wrong, the ad may set an unsuitable expectation or relevant enquiries may never receive follow-up. A useful audit examines the layers affecting the result in a sensible order and turns each finding into an actionable change with a way to verify it.

Understand the business outcome before judging the account

Clarify the priority offer, suitable customer and sales process. Then assess how campaign objectives relate to that outcome. An engagement campaign and a direct enquiry campaign should not automatically be judged against identical success criteria.

Record changes in price, availability, service area or sales handling during the evaluation period. Knowing the operating context before selecting dates helps avoid attributing every movement to an advertising adjustment.

Check whether the measurement represents the intended action

Distinguish clicks, form opens, completed enquiries and qualified opportunities. Duplicate tracking or treating a button click as a completed sale can distort every later conclusion. Follow an example interaction through the recording process.

Investigate differences between platform, analytics and CRM reports without assuming all counts should match. Document definitions, periods and attribution scope. If measurement is unresolved, state how that limits the confidence of a budget recommendation.

Inspect the account and the customer journey together

A finding should explain more than the name of a setting. Describe the customer experience affected and what the proposed change is intended to improve.

Prioritise findings by evidence and consequence

In a hypothetical account, a frequently clicked ad produces many out-of-scope requests. The first response may be clarifying the offer and questions rather than commissioning more creative. If suitable enquiries fail to reach sales, the priority may sit outside the advertising platform.

Separate confirmed faults, hypotheses to investigate and improvement opportunities. Give each an owner, verification method and expected deliverable. Changing every setting at once makes learning difficult. Revisit relevant indicators after initial fixes, then use the evidence to order the remaining work.
