Compare ikas and Shopify against the business country, customer market and actual payment-to-shipping journey. A simple domestic-versus-international label is insufficient; verify the plan, providers and return conditions.
Record merchant location and customer location separately
Separate the country of the registered business, target customer countries and settlement currency. Merchant eligibility for a payment provider is a different question from the customer’s location.
Shopify's official payments guidance explains that Shopify Payments availability depends on the business country and eligibility. Do not assume one provider is available to every merchant. When evaluating ikas, likewise confirm that the intended payment method works for your actual business structure.
Do not mistake a feature name for a completed journey
Displaying another currency is not the same as collecting payment in it. Check Shopify Markets processor requirements and verify the selected ikas plan and payment agreement.
Both options still require work on translated product explanations, campaign messaging and support language. An automatically translated button does not establish that the product is accurately described or that customer questions can be handled. Assign ownership and review to language management too.
Compare the same market scenarios on both platforms
Test the same basket with a destination-country address: payment, shipping, order status and refund. An available ikas carrier integration does not automatically supply your own carrier agreement.
| Decision area | Verify for ikas | Verify for Shopify |
|---|---|---|
| Language and content | Product and process text in the target language | Product and process text in the target language |
| Price and payment | Displayed and charged currency | Payment currency supported by the provider |
| Turkish operations | Required payment, shipping and document connections | Required local integrations and applications |
| Target-country delivery | A real fulfilment route for the product and address | A real fulfilment route for the product and address |
| Catalogue management | Variant and price-list workflow | Variant and market-pricing workflow |
| Daily management | Team, support and integration ownership | Team, application and integration ownership |
Compare the complete operating scope
Compare theme, apps, payment, shipping, translation and ERP scope together. A demo without the cancellation update back to the warehouse does not establish complete integration.
Imagine both platforms publishing the catalogue successfully while cancellation updates to the existing warehouse system require additional work. Ending evaluation at the product-entry demonstration would miss that dependency. Use critical exceptions like this hypothetical example during scoping.
Base the decision on end-to-end tests and team use
Have staff update products and prices. Record whether each critical workflow uses standard functionality, an added application or custom development, with unresolved work in the decision record.
Record the rationale through required capabilities, verified workflows and unresolved work. This connects platform selection to the company's growth plan rather than popularity or general geographic labels.
